Android phone 3G/4G sharing USB input - Native vs PDAnet

Silent Patriot

New Around Here
Currently using FoxFi on my Verizon Galaxy S5 and don't want to root it for Native tethering support until after the Marshmallow update. Looking at RT-AC1900 to simplify the network.

Can anyone please confirm or deny whether PDAnet will be recognized for USB WAN input, or Native only?

Thanks!

I hope you get an answer here, quickly.

But I can't help but think this is a very specific question on very specific devices and it may be a long time coming.

Is the RT-AC1900 router you're asking about actually the RT-AC68U model instead?

I think it may be fastest and most conclusive if you could buy that model and test it yourself. Return if necessary, but update the forum here if it worked or not.

Pretty sure it is the RT-AC68U. Showing up at local Walmart for $179. I many end up trying it, just hoping someone here may know for sure.

It must be (there is no such model as RT-AC1900). :)

That is a good price and being WalMart, you can certainly return if not to your expectations.

I do not have that particular model, but rather an AC66U. And I am actually on Sprint, and use a Galaxy S5 for most of my stuff. I do have PDAnet as well, and the native USB tethering option available. Native USB tethering does work very well, however PDAnet does not, due to the software driver not being able to be installed on the device.

There was a guide around here for tethering that I followed, and it worked like a charm.
