Maybe your jffs2 partition is corrupted.

It happened twice. It happened the first time on the upgrade so I factory reset and it reformatted completely. Then after I set everything up again I added the spaces to the certs and it went crazy again. every since I stopped adding spaces (and removed them) from the certs page, all has been good.

As I've already said, it's not a few lines of code and some HTML code - the backend code had to be modified in the httpd daemon. If you want to switch back to Basic Authentication, you will have to rewrite all this code in the httpd daemon.

Personally, this is the last I will discuss of this. I've already said everything I had to say on this particular topic, and I'm only repeating myself by now.
Merlin, please do not even worry about this. New login page with all its security measures is exactly the direction this should be going. Of course you'll do whatever you think it's needed in the future, but I just want you to know there are individuals who don't want you to change anything. It's perfect, safe and perfectly functional as it is.

So why not go back to a version before the new login change? If you dont really care about security then any security fixes in the new builds would be of no benefit to you. Also the "pretty" GUI changes while are nice are not really necessary either. I am using Johns fork on an AC66 and it works very well, has most of the security and other changes backported from Merlins newer builds and the wireless connectivity and throughput is better for me with this version on the AC66. Merlin 378.54 I believe is before the new login process so perhaps that is your answer.

Oh and plain text does not mean people seeing it on your device after getting into it. It is how its transmitted across the interwebz. :)

I'm already on 378.54_42. I only tested out the 378.55 for a short while before deciding to go back. I just don't wanna be stuck here forever, hence the reason for asking questions and seeking other options.

I'm running an RT-AC87 so unfortunately Johns fork isn't an option for me.

It's all good, I'll eventually just figure out a way to make it work, I always do. :)

Wow...an attitude. I think my English is much better than your Dutch, so just shut the f#$k up.
But I guess your comments are quite predictable when you've done an IT security nosedive (or should there be a space in between?)....

Oh I see you actually took the time to really think type out your post this time. Clearly my comment must have hit home for you ;)

If what you mostly need is WOL, I suggest looking at either a local application that would do it from your computer/mobile, or going through a script that would log into the router, run the ether-wake command on the router and log back out. I remember someone posted a Powershell script on these forums a few months ago that was doing something similar.

Yeah I was doing it thru an app on my iPhone back when I was using DD-WRT with my R7000. Then I got an RT-AC87 and switch to your FW and since I seen there was a native WOL page I just decided to go that route instead.

I know that with DD-WRT I had added this command to the startup script which would set a static arp entry anytime I rebooted my router so that WOL would work properly.

arp -s 192.168.1.254 FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF

What is the equivalent of doing that with your FW?

arp is a standard Linux command, just put it in init-start or services-start.

Try forgetting your wireless configuration on your client and reconnecting again.
Forgetting the wireless config on the client and re-entering would not ever reconnect.

I have since gone back to 378.54_2 and have no issues. Also, I forgot to mention before but I have my RT-AC66R in AP mode.

I know the arp command is, I was referring to the equivalent of the dd-wrt startup script. You said init-start, or services-start, I will give that a try. Thank you sir :)

Sometimes I feel like people are way too hard on Merlin and I just want to take the time and say thank-you again! Is there some bugs? Sure. Could I go to stock or roll back to a previous firmware? Absolutely. I think we all need to remember that some of the issues you may be experiencing may be from Asus themselves. Also instead of complaining about something not working to him, try politely reporting the issue(s) you've found so that they can be fixed.

Sorry for the rant, it just bugs me to see people practically demanding merlin fix the issues they are having as if he's forcing you to use his FW.

One of the main reasons (besides the obvious ones) I like his firmware is that when I login to the router my hard drives don't all decide to spin up like on stock.

Hi guys, I have RT-AC66U
PPPoE over WiFi connection don't work, while working fine over LAN connection. The log is:
pppoe-relay[8294]: PADI packet from 7x:c3:a1:xx:xx:xx on interface eth0 not permitted. Any idea? Thank you.

I think my router (RT-AC68U) is not behaving correctly. For example, after more than 2 days of uptime, this morning I saw on the system log the following lines:

Basically, sometimes I've problem with my NETATMO weather station: I loss some data that seems not to be uploaded to the server, due to some problem with the new 378.55. This morning, after the lines above (no more lines after the last one, so far), the weather station stopped uploading data since 11.41 AM (it uploads data every 5 mins). So far I wasn't able to sort this out. Could anyone kindly help me?

Edit: so far, no problem with FW previous versions

Hi, I note that there is a problem if you jump from tab WPS or WDS to tab wireless MAC Filter and viceversa.
The screen crashes and appears that way:

I'm already on 378.54_42. I only tested out the 378.55 for a short while before deciding to go back. I just don't wanna be stuck here forever, hence the reason for asking questions and seeking other options.

I'm running an RT-AC87 so unfortunately Johns fork isn't an option for me.

It's all good, I'll eventually just figure out a way to make it work, I always do. :)
Got you. I suspect the new login is here to stay so alternate methods (like a password manager or SSH) are in your future.

For those wishing auto login with the new login security you may wish to investigate Dashlane. It has apps for computer & mobile devices. I use the computer app. It logs me automatically without having to type in anything.

Works for me. You most likely have a client with an invalid hostname. Open your web browser console and check the Javascript line where the error occurs.

install this other day all looks good like the new layout, and the bug that would "4" wired devices where there only 2 only actual listed is actual fixed

Maximum number of concurrent DNS queries reached (max: 150)

Been seeing that for few versions now, anyway to increase that?

Just upgraded my ac56u from the previous version of merlin`s firmware ive noticed that the ram usage it fair bit higher compared to the previous version currently 122mb of ram being used despite the router cpu being at 0% is this normal or should i be worried thanks

Don't just post a question... when you go through this thread you will find the answer about 10 times. Also, reading the changelog does miracles...
