I agree fully. I don't even have any client devices that are AX capable and I do not need new router(s). WANTING them is entirely different and I don't need any motivation.

Here you go :

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/asaddon/Asads-Hosts/master/data/Diversion.txt

You'll need to use it as a Wildcard list in Diversion under el->3

The best method to use this list is with a single entry hosts list so that it doesn't mess with Diversion stats function.

Otherwise you can simply disable the Diversion hosts list by going to b->a->2->3 and disable the list.

Great list.

I added the list to el, 3 and added it as a hosts list for wc_blacklist and then my blocked domains in Diversion went from 580,000 down to 262,000. Is that normal?

For every one that seems to have issues with Diversion pegging the CPU's at 100%, you may want to try this (if a clean install hasn't fixed it already).
  • Complete a forced update of Diversion.
  • Disable Diversion. Wait until the CPU cores are idle.
  • Disable Unbound (if you have it installed). Wait until the CPU cores are idle.
  • Disable Skynet (what? you don't have this installed?) :) . Wait until the CPU cores are idle.
  • Now, start Skynet and wait at least 2 minutes (it may be longer on non-HND routers). Again, the CPU cores are a good indication here, but the 2 minutes seems to be a minimum time to wait for Skynet to 'settle'.
  • Then, start Unbound. This 'wait' should be much shorter for idle CPUs.
  • Finally, start Diversion. Wait until the CPU cores are idle. This may take the longest (or not!).
At this point, everything should be 'synced' and working in harmony.

Please let us know how it works for you.
This could be very useful. One question though - if I'm starting again from scratch with a fresh install of amtm on a reformatted flashdrive, do you have a recommended sequence to install the scripts (I plan to have Skynet, Diversion, spdMerlin and ntpMerlin)? Your sequence above seems to suggest that I should start with Skynet. Also, if I decide to switch on AiProtection as well, should I do that before or after adding these scripts?

No need to do that either, just use DNS FILTER on the router to make her device use any other third party DNS server instead of the router.

Absolutely simplest laymen's way (I think) your partner can have all her ads, malware and other "stuff" and you drop the ads. :) Honestly, my wife's been complaining a bit with Diversion blocking stuff, but she found workarounds or either I whitelisted the sites or I'm going to put her in the DNS Filter.

That's one good thing about using NextDNS + Diversion/Skynet.. with that setting she still gets "filtered" just maybe not as much and I can change that easily.

All you "unmarried" guys laugh... but "if mama ain't happy, nobody's gonna be happy" is the most sound advice you will EVER receive - besides maybe staying single until you get that one.. :)

Just my .02.

^^^ Just turn that old tired AC86U into a WAP at the other end of the house and give that shiny new AX88U a place front and center! ... or sell it on eBay (you can get $100 USD or so if in good condition and more with the box...) , or give/sell it to the in-laws... ;)

Sidenote: I hardcoded my AC86U to turn those CPUWAITs OFF... so she's as fast as she's gonna get.. but it cannot complete with twice the number of pCORES (4 vs 2) in the AX88U for running lots of stuff like our amtm toys + it's day job. :)

BTW, in laymen's terms, the more stuff you run (OpenVPN, amtm scripts, Diversion, Pixelserv, Skynet, ...) the more your performance will benefit from having more cores.. to execute all those processes.

@L&LD those stats are impressive - enough to coax me into listing the AX88U in camel, camel, camel to monitor the amazon price! Bad news is has not dipped really since "black friday" :( -> RT-AX88U Upgrade https://www.snbforums.com/threads/b...ta-is-now-available.60037/page-31#post-531024

This shouldn't happen but since I don't use such large lists I'm not quite sure.
The first thing to check is if you still have all the hosts list enabled in "b".

BTW it's totally counterproductive to use my list with such a large number of blocked domains because it's quite possible that your list already includes all the domains/subdomains my list blocks. I created this list to use it as a pure wildcard blocking list and I don't use any other hosts lists in Diversion so all my blocking is handled by the WC list alone.

When i install Download Master + Diversion, show me an error, why i cant install both? I use Download Master on a HDD and Diversion on a Pen Driver.

Someone can help me?

For us noobs who don't know what we're doing but like to think we do, could you list the exact steps (if you remember) to get your setup from a 'default' Diversion install with Standard+ Hosts List?

I think I know what to do but just want to make sure. Thank you in advance :)

Download Master uses Optware and Diversion standard uses Entware and they both are not compatible with each other. What you can do is instead of using download manager use Transmission from Entware repo.

Ok, but when i try to install Transmision, is too complicate for me, when i download something, it say Error, not space. And i dont know why because i have 1TB

Since Diversion is not designed (yet) to only support WC hosts list you need to use a single entry host list with the WC list I posted above so that Diversion doesn't give you any warnings.

But if you're okay with the warning ( it doesn't interfere with the blocking part) you can disable all your current hosts lists in b>1>2>3

And add the WC list in el>3.

Is your 1TB drive using ext filesystem?
You can't install Entware packages on FAT32/NTFS drive.

Yes, that will cause issues, change "sda1"
with your Drive name.

Use this tutorial here, it's way more straight forward:
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Installing-Transmission-through-Entware

P.S You can also use WinSCP to easily edit files on your router.

Thank you!! I apreciate so much that! I'll change it tomorrow and follow the guide step by step! by the way, i read the guide and it say that need format on ext2 or ext3, What happen with the ext4? doesnt support?

Thanks for the reply (and the thanks for the list).

I don't know what happened, but after a reboot the blocked domains returned.

Re: same domains blocked. I block a lot of pornography domains so that's why I have so many domains blocked. But I'll double check the Hosts files and see if I'm double blocking.

Thanks again. :)

Thanks Asad. I now get what is meant by single entry host list. I was thinking of something else.

Don't mind the warnings. The ad blocking was interfering (minimally) with work emails so I want to try this before uninstalling altogether.

that's simply untrue. i use small, lite whatever coder calls it, and still keep having to use a vpn client on my pc to get past diversion to do anything at home (i know it's diversion, not my browser, dns, anti-malware or firewalls). i understand about list-keepers - years ago i used to block ads in Win7 using HOSTS file. but coder is not making the kind of distinctions home router uses may need to avoid most ads, while still being able to shop, stream, game and forum without getting so many unresolved urls. look, you guys can blow me off, i don't really care, but coder is painting his app into a corner by being too brutal against how the online economy works now in 2020 with referral links and trackers and overseas hosts that some list keeper ruled out because it may have once offended somebody.

What's blocking ads and trackers got to do with being offended?
