The TVS-882ST2 Thunderbolt 2 8-bay NAS is powered by an Intel Core i5-6442EQ 1.9 GHz processor and 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (max is 32 GB), and supports up to eight 2.5” SATA SSD or HDD.
TVS-882ST2 runs QNAP’s QTS 4.3 operating system, which includes several business applications including virtualization, containers, QvPC (for using the TVS-882ST2 as a PC), and a Thunderbolt to Ethernet convertor for users that don’t have network jacks on their computer.
Storage expansion is also possible as demand for more space increases. This is done using up to six Thunderbolt 2 expansion enclosures, or by utilizing the NAS’ VJBOD feature that links multiple NAS boxes and lets users create pools of virtual drives across multiple NAS.
Additional interfaces include 2 x Thunderbolt 2 ports, 2 x 10GbE and 2 x Gigabit network ports, 1 x HDMI, and 2 x USB 3.1 ports (USB-C + USB-A, up to 10Gb/s) and 2 x USB 3.0 ports.
The QNAP TVS-882ST2 is available now, however pricing for the new product was not disclosed.
