Possible to disable constant DNS checks to dns.msftncsi.com?

You're wrong. ;) Not withstanding Dave's comment about dnsmasq, even if you were to somehow change the TTL it still wouldn't alter the probe frequency.

This is what I initially suspected too. Thanks for yet another definitive answer.
