I have an RTAC87U Asus Wifi router. I'm running Merlin 384.5. I have a ARRIS SB8200 cable modem.

I'm losing my internet intermittently.

This is my syslog for the last period of time it lost connection, any info on what's causing this please?? I can provided extended log time periods if helpful.

Any help most appreciated.

Looks like your cable modem (or whatever it is that's plugged into your router's WAN port) rebooted itself. Either that or you've got a faulty WAN Ethernet cable.

I was afraid of that! Thank you for the reply and help.

Replaced the cable, it lost internet connection again twice about the same time in the very early morning.

I had changed the logging level, perhaps I need more detailed logging, but this is all the ASUS captured:

1) What logging levels should I set on my ASUS router to figure out what is happening? What Syslog level will give me the most information and detail?

2) Any thoughts why it reboots twice in between 2AM and 4AM each night??

Thx!

I think you need to investigate the cable modem not the router. Check the cable modem logs. If it's only happening in the middle of the night I'd say it sounds like your ISP is performing maintenance. Try asking your ISP.

Aha!! Very interesting and helpful, thank you for the suggestion and theory.

Can you tell me the highest detail log level for my Asus router, so I can set that?

Edit update, see my cable modem logs below, I think you may be correct about maintenance:
