I've got this strange entry in my log on my 88u
miniupnpd[9977]: Failed to convert hostname 'fe80::290:a9ff:fed7:3577' to ip address

At the same time it appears I have my amplifi mesh kit drop off the network.
But this mac or ip doesn't match any device I have, I even reset it the router and my mesh kits to try and fix the issue, I've had my 88u for since it first was available in Australia for purchase, I'm not sure its glitching out I'm running 384.7_alpha1-g43c4482aa, not sure what's causing the kit to drop or where this error comes from.

I will thanks how did you know I had one?
And that's why causing my kit to drop Interesteing I guess it's because that and my kit are on the same switch.

Well, first it's a problem that has been reported before on WD devices. Seems to occur most often after a WD firmware update.

Next, the IPv6 link local address does point at the device
fe80::290:a9ff:fed7:3577

throw out the fe80 and the fffe in the middle, giving you
02 90 a9 d7 35 77

invert bit1 of the first octet (second bit from the right), giving you
00 90 a9 d7 35 77

that's the mac address of the device
use a OUI database lookup to tell you mac's starting with 00 90 a9 belong to WD

Ohh I understand now thank you very much I appreciate the help.
