Hello Everyone,

My Asus-RT87U is working today as an AP and I have partially satisfied of the speed of the Wifi. I know that today devices are not yet ax but I wanted to change expecting already an improvment with the current devices.

I wanted a Dual Ban AX router, already certified Wifi 6:

that will be compliant with Uplink, TWT, .. and allow for OpenWRT to be installed on. It looks like Qualcom chips are usually better quality/performance than Broadcom.

Today my need is as an AP. If it's a router and if OpenWRT can be loaded on it then it's an option but current I run Pfsense as a router and have the 87U as an AP behind.

Any recommendation of which device to buy to improve current Wifi and support full wifi6 ? (I don't see the need of tri band).

Merci

I decided it was too early for Wi-Fi 6. The prices are coming down for wave2 APs. I bought 2 Cisco WAP581 wireless APs. They have a higher density factor than my previous APs. They support 200 connections each with 100 active users each. If I have a party I will be covered. It will probably be the last of the wave2 wireless APs as I am sure Cisco will be headed toward Wi-Fi6.
