New Around Here
Hi,

I have 2 questions about wireless client bridging. I currently have a Cisco E2000 running DD-WRT in client bridge mode connected to a D-link DIR-655.

1) I have 5 devices connected to the E2000 through a gigabit switch. For file transfer within these devices (All win7). Would data traffic get gigabit speed and stay within the switch, or would they be routed through the router, which means they would flow through the DIR-655 and be limited to wireless n speed?

2) I believe both the E2000 and DIR-655 supports 300Mbps throughput, but I am only able to achieve 137Mbps connection between the two (on DD-WRT's status screen). I have setup both to use 40Mhz band. Is there anything else I should adjust? On that note, why doesn't the E2000 shows up as a device in DIR-655's device log screen?

Thanks,
Steven

Client bridge mode on DD-WRT doesn't support 40MHz channel bonding(It doesn't in mixed mode, but does in N only mode), so all you get is MIMO. Devices on the same switch can talk to one another without a router being involved. The E2000 will not show in the DIR-655 because it is a bridge and doesn't get assigned an address. Client mode only(not bridged, uses it's wireless connection as it's WAN connection) allows the E2000 to run like a wireless connected, wired only router, but on a different subnetwork.
