Installed alpha2 on my RT-BE86U router (dirty upgrade from Merlin 3006.102.4); Ai Mesh node is another RT-BE86U running ASUS stock firmware. For the first time in weeks all my Tapo IoT devices are connected simultaneously (!). Previously, there would always be a few that would lose the WiFi connection. This is a major improvement for me. With version 3006.102.4 I also had trouble adding these Tapo devices to the Guest network, but they would connect to the main SSID without a problem. I'll give this another try as well.
(I recently replaced my RT-AX86U units with these RT-BE86U ones, to be able to use the latest and greatest Merlin firmware.)

installed alpha2 on my 92U.

My UN and PW dont work anymore, although SSH does. weird. Looks like ill have to reset.

EDIT:

Apparently there is a password minimum length rule in place now.

My old pw was one digit short so it wouldn't take it for the web gui login, but its not enforced for SSH apparently.

reset the UN and PW via SSH to admin/admin and rebooted. fixed now.

if anyone else bumps in this heres the ssh commands:

Code:
nvram set http_username=admin
nvram commit
nvram set http_passwd=admin
nvram commit
reboot

Tried to upload the alpha 2 to my BE96U and it failed. I will try out alpha 1 tomorrow to see if that works. Not sure why it failed didn't show any information on that but still rebooted the router and acted like it was uploading. Below is what I'm upgrading from. I didn't update out of the beta3 because the release was the same thing. Didn't see a point when everything was working great and still is.

Disregard, I just checked, and I grabbed the wrong file. I accidently grabbed the 92U one. *Face Palm*

Thank you for flagging this.
Do you know what the new minimum length now is?

The requirement is only when setting a password. It will not prevent you from logging in using an existing weak password. I just tested it myself both on a Wifi 6 and a Wifi 7 device, both times I was able to flash 102.4, set a 6 letters lowercase password, upgrade to 102.5-alpha2, and log back in using that same weak password.

Your issue probably lies elsewhere.

Try doing it with 6 digit 1 cap and 1 special as mine was. When I get a moment I'll downgrade and do it again with the same password and let you know.

Beta is out, we can close this thread
