For the ASUS RT-AC68P Utilities update version 1.4.8.0 (2017/01/25) 4.56 MBytes, (ASUS Device Discovery Tool) fix for stability and removed vulnerable driver, OS support: Win XP, Win 7, Win8, Win10.
The doc files say this (.exe file installer) is a utility app to be installed after you do the latest firmware update.

My question: This app appears to just allow one to see the IP address of any Asus router(s) currently on LAN. I don't really need this for that, but where it says,
"fix for stability and removed vulnerable driver, OS support: Win XP, Win 7, Win8, Win10"

I surmise this is speaking of fixing any previous installs of said Discovery Tool itself, correct?

You only need that tool if you are going to set up a router as an Access Point or Media Bridge.
