obviously is a NO as highlighted by merlin many times. if you wanted to use rog theme, then just make use of stock firmware. no point having different versions of the same firmware.

Not sure why, but I've had slow internet, pages not responding and airplay lag since updating from beta 3, rebooted twice now, thinking of downgrading as never had these issues just to see...
I've had the same problem. A factory reset solved it.

The Guest Network Pro is such a pain. Many IOT devices on it, can't connect to the internet. I am putting them all back to the main network.

It's part of the entire full change log. It apparently applies to any stock Asus firmware version that is 3006.102_37000 and newer. So if you are on the latest stock 3.0.0.6.102_37841 firmware for the RT-BE86U, then you would issue the indicated command via SSH if you want to flash the Asus-Merlin 3006.102.4 firmware.
Ok. Thank you very much!

See the change log:
3006.102.x (10-May-2025)
- NOTE: As a reminder, the ROG variant of the webui is not supported in the 3006 firmware series, as maintaining two separate interfaces is too much extra work.

Wow, imagine actually taking a moment to search the forum before posting—what a concept, right? This topic has been beaten to death, resurrected, and then buried again. It’s gone. Not coming back. Useless. Done.

Merlin even literally made a post asking if anyone still wanted it, and surprise, surprise—just about everyone shouted “no thanks!” louder than a toddler refusing vegetables. But hey, by all means, let’s keep pretending this is breaking news.

Hi.I've been using my ASUS RT-BE86U for a good few months with Merlin firmware
RT-BE86U_3006_102.3_0

I had noticed some difficulty with using DNS Director, and had thus disabled it.
When I noticed the following in the Changelog for the next Firmware:-

"CHANGED: Setting DNS Director to "Router" will now always
redirect to the router's own IP. Previously it
would redirect to the first DNS server configured
on the DHCP page (which defaults to the router
itself).
If you need DNS Director to redirect to an IP
configured in your DHCP settings, use a Custom DNS
entry in DNS Director. This makes it more consistant
with what the name implies, and was also necessary
for improved Guest Network support."

I decided to update to this new firmware.
RT-BE86U_3006_102.4_0

HOWEVER on checking the update, and seeing if I needed to change any settings etc. I found that a good half of the websites that I rely on regularly would now not load. I was getting a message that a secure connection could not be established... Meanwhile OTHER sites loaded normally...

In my check for settings I could not find anything that I could see that could help...

Needless to say I have reverted to RT-BE86U_3006_102.3_0

Any help or ideas on the cause of this problem would be gratefully recieved. Greg

My setup is fairly simple, but with the addition of a Separated Guest network with no access to the rest.

A suggestion. Provide information about how you have configure your router including the DNS Director settings if you have enabled that feature, and any addon scripts you may be using. Without any information on how you have configured your router one generally cannot provide any suggestions to your question or issue with the firmware.

Anyone else having issues with ACLs on Guest Network Pro? If I configure in accept mode, devices not in the ACL of the default WLAN cannot connect, and if I do reject mode, devices in ACL still connect. GT-AX6000 with the subject FW.

I just purchased a New RT-BE7200 Router and immediately updated to merlin firmware without running this command - " nvram set DOWNGRADE_CHECK_PASS=1" . Is that a problem? What limitations will I have as a result?

Also I setup my old router RT-AX86u router as a media bridge running latest merlin firmware and it seems to be losing connection every day and needs to be reset. I re-flashed it back to stock Asus latest firmware to see how it behaves in media bridge mode. What firmware is best to use on media bridge devices?? stock or merlin. Please explain. Thx

If it were a problem, then Asuswrt-Merlin would simply be rejected by the flash procedure, and you would be back to the original firmware after the router is done rebooting. If you do see the Asuswrt-Merlin logo and the correct version at the top of the webui then all is fine.

Sorry, How do I access SSH Command Line? I can't seem to find anything on how to do it. Asus website says how to activate it, but not how to then access the interface to run commands?

Thanks for reply, would i still be able to revert back to latest stock firmware if needed?

Lots of choices depending on your OS, on Windows I use Putty SSH client. Use the client to log into the router via SSH and you'll end up on the command line.

I reverted a driver update on the RT-BE96U and GT-BE98_PRO. Sounds odd that this would be causing you an issue, as these are drivers used in Asus released firmwares. But due to lack of time to gather more feedback for it I decided to revert it just in case.
@RMerlin
Thank you for all your work. I was using RT-BE96 on beta3 and the wireless connection seemed more stable compared to the current stable release.
I just found out that the driver update on the RT-BE96U was reverted on the latest stable release.
Is there a plan to re-implement the driver from the Asus released firmware (one from beta3) in the near future?

If using Windows, Putty or WinSCP seem to be the most popular. You first enable SSH (LAN Only) through the router's GUI (Administration -> System). Then use Putty or WinSCP to access the router via SSH and issue commands in the terminal window. One can find various "how-to" videos on Youtube. Some examples:
Putty: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
WinSCP: https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

Thank you. I didn’t realise it was a 3rd party thing as well. I use a Mac. I will check out YouTube for videos of that. Cheers.
