Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.5 is now available

Dirty upgrade, no real issues, SSH session right after reboot seemed to lock up, but another reboot via GUI fixed...

Still no joy with Captive Portal on Guest Network, even with favicon added, any updates? (Couldn't find the thread in the beta discussions that talked about it....)

Thanks for all the hard work!!!

I've removed my favicon workaround script before upgrading since it worked for me starting in beta3:

Post in thread 'Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.5 Beta is now available' https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-3006-102-5-beta-is-now-available.95115/post-964191

I directly upgraded two BE98 PROs from 3006_102.5_beta3 to 3006_102.5, and everything worked fine. The only issue I encountered with Wi-Fi 7 was that the MLO network wasn't very stable, with all connected devices frequently experiencing false disconnections, requiring manual disconnection and reconnection to restore normal operation.

It is less than 15 feet from the asus be96u in direct sight, no walls, doors anything, definitely not the distance or range, didn’t happen with 102.4
If that's the correct MAC for your iPhone check it's wifi settings for any power saving.

Yeah nop, only happen in 102.5 i went back to 102.4 and everything is good, something in .5 is causing that
Yet no-one else is reporting it.
Try forgetting the network on the iPhone, then reconnect.
Have you tried a factory reset with minimal setup after updating?

Can you please check the guest networks? Mine are rejecting connection after a reboot cycle.
Don't know if this is similar or not but have the same happening with 2 devices on a guest network but only on my mesh node (AX56). The same guest network on the main router (BE92) has all my devices join without issue.
Other devices are connecting fine on the mesh node as long as they're not on the guest network so not clear why this is happening and it wasn't an issue on the previous stable version.
The mesh node is enabled for the guest network BTW, made sure to double check.

Even more weirdly, one of the devices is a wifi CCTV can that has an audio cue on boot which tells me it's connected, but the device simply doesn't show on the network and I can't access it.

Just One post above yours...

I am fine on Waterfox.

Well i've seen it after i posted but i am not sure if it's even the same error. Tried it by changing to WPA2 only (it said to disable wifi-7 mode automatically when i did) and still the same issue. This SSID network disappears and even scanning for it it's not picked up other than for the very few minutes after a reboot. Definitely not as intended, therefore broken on this FW version.

Last year I made the move from an older DD-WRT device to a brand new Asus GT-AX11000 Pro and have been enjoying it with OVPN (Nord) ever since. I have no scripts or apps installed and I factory reset before installing AsusWRT Merlin 3006.102.4 a couple months ago when it was released, manually setting everything up, then dirty flashed to 102.5 recently.

OVPN with Nord on the Asus has always worked, but I do find I need to reboot the router a few times a week to keep everything in the house working properly, which I never did with Nord OVPN on DD-WRT, achieving over two years of uptime. Whatever, I don't mind and have set it up to reboot every other day at 3am.

In June I switched ISPs when fiber became available and now have a 500/500 connection. Since OVPN clients top out around 180mbps each direction, I setup Wireguard clients with something similar to the attached config (private key redacted, filetype changed to txt to upload). This works great for awhile, getting nearly full speed via speedtests from my laptop and great bufferbloats (A+ resutls), but WG always craps out after a few hours, I lose all internet access in the house, and the GT-AX11000 Pro won't let me switch to any other WG servers (for which I have similar conf files) or OVPN server, requiring a full reboot and switch in VPN Director to an OVPN nord server. I have VPN Director rules allowing all OVPN and WG clients.

After blowing out the OVPN / WG configs and resetting dns settings multiple times, I can't figure out why this happens, so I've come to ask for help.

I've attached a log from a fresh boot, disabling of OVPN and enabling of WG, usage for a few minutes and its subsequent crash and the resulting manual reboot. Am I derping out and doing it wrong? Is this a WG bug or some issue with my WG config / settings? Is it related to the kernel RT throttling or the time server issues?

My upgrade didn't go smoothly. After the upgrade from 102.4 to 102.5 I got a message saying the upgrade completed and I need to manually reboot. The UI wouldn't respond so I cycled the power and when it booted it was reset to factory settings and still on 102.4.

I did the upgrade again and reconfigured my network on 102.5 and at the end of it I noticed something very strange. This is the output of "brctl show" on my RT-BE88U:

Code:

I have 1 main network (br0) and 3 guest networks (IOT, VPN and GUEST on vlans 501, 502 and 503). The guest networks have AP isolation set and access to main network is not enabled.
Why are there so many virtual wl interfaces on each bridge? I expected to only have two for each (one per band). Especially weird is why there are 5 on br0 and 4 on all the rest.

Can anyone explain this?

Nord, over both OVPN and Wireguard are behaving impeccably for me

I would think the virtual interfaces represent the wired and wireless interfaces that can, in part, be assigned to or already are VLAN's.

Wrong order...

While you can do a factory reset before installing new firmware, you should be doing the factory reset AFTER flashing the new firmware, if you are going to be doing a factory reset. Doing the factory reset AFTER flashing the firmware insures (or should insure) the new firmware's default settings are used.

Edit to add: Asus is now strongly recommending a factory default reset after installing the latest Asus stock firmware releases for certain routers. (see here, here, here, here for recent examples)
Important: After installing this firmware, we strongly recommend performing a factory-default reset to activate every new security adjustment.

Not FW related, but noticed Trend Micro Signature update is down...

3006.102.5 - Rock solid for 4 days on routers and addons as per my signature.
Best router thingy ever tripped over was Asus/Merlinware 😁- discovered it 8 years back by chance 👍.

I've often said it's better to wait and not just respond as soon as it's installed.

Nothing to add 😎

Agreed.

Dirty upgrade over 3006.102.4, running smoothly so far (knock on wood). :)
