nvram commit
I had that issue for a few weeks until I ran a few commands while troubleshooting something. I'm not sure which of these commands did resolve the issue for me, so give it a try.

Code:
nvram unset bwdpi_sig_ver
nvram unset bwdpi_rsa_check
nvram unset bwdpi_dpi_ver
nvram commit
service stop_wrs_force
service start_wrs

Either it's a mismatch in engine/sig version, or there was a problem with the rsa-signed version of the rules file.

It was the last two - but don't open the QoS tab, you will have to do this again.

For me:

Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.378.51
Bootloader (CFE) 1.0.3.2
Uptime 0 days 1 hours 8 minutes 21 seconds
Temperatures 2.4 GHz: 42°C - 5 GHz: 50°C - CPU: 64°C

For me:

Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.378.51
Bootloader (CFE) 1.0.3.2
Uptime 0 days 1 hours 8 minutes 21 seconds
Temperatures 2.4 GHz: 42°C - 5 GHz: 50°C - CPU: 64°C

What is model ? On RT-AC87U you have CPU 64*C ? I dont believe...
My on CPU 1100MHz have 2.4 GHz: 50°C - 5 GHz:75°C - CPU:81°C

Anyone has CPU more than 1100MHz ?

Hard reboot and soft reboot. Still 1.016? Is that a problem? I don't what the signature version does.

Edit:
My Google-fu is a little weak, but it appears this is related to the Trend Micro stuff. Mine is disabled, so it's likely not being updated.

How could you have such a low temperature on the CPU? Do you have any special cooling?

Temperatures 2.4 GHz: 42°C - 5 GHz: 50°C - CPU: 64°C

Wow. Where do have this thing? In the garage or freezer? :)

My ambient temperature is 23 C and my router is out in the open - lots of circulation.

Temperatures 2.4 GHz: 48°C - 5 GHz: 63°C - CPU: 82°C

In my room about router is temp. 25.8 *C and my router have 81*C.

Hi. It's in the basement of my house above my power panel. I'll post a photo but it looks like I have to upload photos to the net somewhere to insert into a post. Instructions for posting photos anywhere?

My 2nd RT-AC87U is on the top floor of my house but I can't access the tools menu to see my temps as it is running in Access point mode. Any other way to get temps?

Edit: Figured out the top floor router. I was still running ASUS Stock firmware. Temps upstairs are: Temperatures 2.4 GHz: 45°C - 5 GHz: 60°C - CPU: 76°C

What about the stuff in my logs? Should I be worried?

Thanks again everyone.

I wouldn't worry. The cooler the better!

OK thanks.

So what is this stuff in my logs then?

AC66U - do I need a hard reset after upgrading to .51 from .50?

Wireless log page is corrupted after update

Not sure if this is a bug or not, I think not. Anyway if you decline the Trend Micro user agreement, and look around for example Adaptive QoS --> Web history (it is blank like it supposed to be). However it breaks the vpn connection and I find this in the log:

Code:
Mar 8 08:29:27 kernel: * Make sure sizeof(struct sw_struct)=160 is consistent
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: IDPfw: TrendMicro forward module ver-1.0.26
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: IDPfw: Apply module param dev_wan=eth0
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: IDPfw: Apply module param sess_num=30000
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: IDPfw: Init chrdev /dev/idpfw with major 191
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: IDPfw: IDPfw is ready
Mar 8 08:29:28 kernel: sizeof forward param = 160
Mar 8 08:29:51 kernel: IDPfw: Exit IDPfw
Mar 8 08:29:51 kernel: Stop the IPS/AppID engine...
Mar 8 08:29:51 kernel: mod epilog takes 0 jiffies
Mar 8 08:29:51 kernel: IDPfw: Exit IDPfw
Mar 8 08:29:51 kernel: Stop the IPS/AppID engine...
Mar 8 08:29:52 kernel: IDPfw: Exit chrdev /dev/idpfw with major 191
Mar 8 08:29:52 rc_service: bwdpi_check 606:notify_rc start_firewall
Mar 8 08:29:52 start_nat_rules: apply the nat_rules(/tmp/nat_rules_eth0_eth0)!

I read in another post when somebody asked about a similar log RMerlin said its just normal Trend Micro stuff.
No big deal, just remember to toggle your vpn client connection on and off after poking around. Has anybody used wireshark to see how Trend Micro communicates from the router to its servers?

EDIT: Well the above happens if you just click on Adaptive QoS (I am using traditional, declined Trend Micro agreements when presented and poking around, and did a complete factory reset before installing .51 from .50) with out clicking on further tabs there.

It's actually quite easy to achieve low temps...even when overclocked. I have my RT-AC68U overclocked to 1200 mhz and it runs at a cool 55-56 C. Yes I use a cooling fan to keep temps that low, but it was a very minimal expense...$13.99 on Amazon. Here's what it looks like mounted to my router...keeps her nice and frosty!

The message to manually reboot came up on my AC66 so I would say yes. Just a simple power down worked fine for me.

It was the last two - but don't open the QoS tab, you will have to do this again.

The last two merely restart the engine to apply the changes done by the previous ones. The fix is in the unset commands done before that - after that the fix will be persistent.
