Thank you for that very useful clarification! I'll unblock the host and IP, and keep the DNS check setting in the hope that an update ends up fixing it. I now get that it seems an Asus issue. Appreciate you and @RMerlin looking into it (I see perhaps coincidentally that he pushed out a beta today).

There is a workaround for this issue if you are not using dual WAN

Ahem... went to add a cert to my daughter's tablet (she is at school) and found an... erm... nasty website up. "Bustyfilmes" domain!

Anyhow, I have had faith in the blocklists I have been using in diversion until I saw that. I added it to the blacklist, but now I wonder how many other shady things my kid's may stumble upon if I rely on diversion lists to stop them. It has typically blocked most of the nasty stuff, but this one made it through.

Is there a specific block list I should look into for diversion that is more on top of 'adult content'?

For now to set my mind more at ease, I setup all my kid's devices to use opendns family in the DNS filter page. That site doesn't pass their DNS (whew!), but now they're pulling ads, no DoT, etc. Not the best, but better than wondering what is missing from my blacklist... and worrying what I may find on their devices. If I can do it so they're still using diversion without having to worry about smut slipping through, I'm all for it.

You can easily use OpenDNS **and** Diversion. I am. Just set up your router's WAN DNS to point to the OpenDNS servers, and install Diversion. They work perfectly well together. No DoT, of course, but ... check out another possible solution for DoT **and** Filtering: Cleanbrowsing (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/b...ta-is-now-available.56325/page-15#post-485710). I'm going to look into this site shortly myself...

I use this custom block list which is actually from the same source as the default list

+1 for device filtering....took off youtube because of some videos my son was watching. He then found a way to go through angry birds game.....dang kids! NO SOUP FOR YOU!

LOL quicksilver, I can so relate... yt is the biggest issue with parenting kids online. They really need to figure out how to make a safer experience for the little ones. Unfortunately most of my kid's favorite stuff is on yt... makes it where I'm constantly having to shoulder surf. If I ever see inappropriate videos, we'll have a talk... and of course I can escalate from there with my blacklist.

Tried YouTube kids but I was done with it when I found an article where people were uploading what seemed to be kid friendly videos with suicide (a comedy skit If I remember) in the middle.

Trying not to go OT... but since we're talking about our kids... hard to hold back.

That kind of phishing should be criminalized. I mean, they go and provide videos of suicides on a site that is intended for children... sounds intentionally criminal to me anyways. I'm so against any form of censorship, but if I try and make a safe place for my kids to play I should be able to do that without worrying about such dou**e baggery. So I'm OK with laws that try to protect that... and honestly I'd hope it puts the folks that post such videos behind bars. Just think if they do that behind a computer screen, what they might want to do to our kids IRL.

I see there is instructions to use upstream DNS for ipv4 but not for ipv6. Is it the same way?

So for ipv4 under Wan>DNS server I have them set to: 1.1.1.1. and 1.0.0.1.

What about for ipv6? Is it the same thing? Just set it to not connect to dns server automatically and enter in my ipv6 dns addresses?

So now diversion should be running on both ipv4 and ipv6 with cloudflare dns being used for upstream correct?

Also does the type of usb drive matter? I have an old samsung usb 2.0 running right now. Would there be any benefit of using a usb 3.0 drive? Thanks!

DNS is hard coded on most android OS. Any special DNS configuration?

Look in the system log for clues. Try disabling Skynet and Diversion to see if you have a change in behavior. Enable them one by one to see if what happens. Try to follow the log file option in Diversion to see if some domain is being blocked.

Reboot or power cycle the router.

Welcome to the forum. The short answer to your question is yes: of course there’s a reason. However, if you can expand a little and give as much relevant information as possible, someone may well be able to pinpoint the reason. For example, you’ve posted to the Diversion thread, so we presume you feel somehow Diversion is linked to your problem, in which case, did you just install Diversion and that’s when the problem occurred? Did it occur out of the blue, in which case why post in the Diversion thread? More info!
