Hi there everyone,

A long time ago I "abandoned" merlin's builds. Now I was thinking about trying them again. So revising the readme file I came across this statement:

"Installation
------------
Simply flash it like any regular update. You should not need to
reset to factory defaults (see note below for exceptions).
You can revert back to an original Asus firmware at any time just
by flashing a firmware downloaded from Asus's website."

Do I just have a reason for total happiness ? Does this means that I can preserve my actual configuration right now, and just flash merlin build over and it will maintain this configuration + the new features ?

My curent asus original firmware is 3.0.0.4.374_720.

And If I then want to go back to asus factory firmware, then the default reset is needed or not ?

Thank you.

Please see the README in the most recent release - I have added additional details about what scenarios require a factory default reset.

Code:
Installation
------------
Simply flash it like any regular update. You should not need to
reset to factory defaults (see note below for exceptions).
You can revert back to an original Asus firmware at any time just
by flashing a firmware downloaded from Asus's website.

NOTE: resetting to factory default after flashing is
strongly recommended for the following cases:

- Switching between an SDK5 build and a regular build (RT-N66U)
- Upgrading from anything older than 3.0.0.4.374 on the RT-N66U
- Coming from another firmware (with the exception of Asus's original FW)

If upgrading from anything older and you experience issues, then
consider doing a factory default reset then as well.

In all of these cases, do NOT load a saved copy of your settings!
This would be the same thing as NOT resetting at all, as you will
simply re-enter any invalid setting you wanted to get rid of. Make
sure to create a new backup of your settings after reconfiguring.
