I have a 1GB connection with Virgin Media and have the hub5 set in modem mode. Ive pluged the port 1 of hub5 into 10GbE port of the axe16000 and it has previously detected it at 2.5g.

On Sunday the Virgin Media connection died and had engineers out today that replaced the hub (with another hub5) however the router is only detecting the connection at 100mb.

I've tried another RJ45 and it was still detecting it as 100mb. I've plugged both cables into the second 10GbE port and router is now detects that at 2.5g which is what i expect.

Is there anything i can do/check to fix the first 10GBe port or do i need to RMA the router?

i'd be grateful for any advice, thanks.

Hi,

On Sunday, my ISP connection went down and was fixed this morning following a engineer visit.

I have the 2.5G WAN of Cable modem plugged into 10GbE of the router however since engineer fixed the line, the router is detecting at port speed as 100mb.

Code:
Jun 11 17:16:12 GT-AXE16000-41D8-7F5D25C-C kernel: eth5 (Int switch port: 6) (Logical Port: 6) (phyId: 13) Link DOWN.

but before then i know it was more
Code:
Jun 10 16:04:27 GT-AXE16000-41D8-7F5D25C-C kernel: eth5 (Int switch port: 6) (Logical Port: 6) (phyId: 13) Link DOWN.

I have tried different RJ45s and they also show as 100mb but when plugging them into other ports i get 1gb or more.

i've tried powering off the router and cable modem but nothing seems to bring the speed back up. Is this a hardware fault or is something stuck somewhere?

I would save the settings, do hard reset, unplug the router for few minutes, boot it up again, go through QIS and check the port status. If all good - upload the settings and check the port status again.

Thanks, i'll give that a go.

Only got round to doing the factory reset. Setup up as new router and plugged into 10GbE port 1 and still showing as 100mbps.

Will send it back to Amazon UK and get a new one unfortunately I got it for cheap compared to what they are selling it now. Initially amazon said id need to pay the difference but now they’ve said they’ll raise credit for difference.

From memory the hub 5's 2.5GbE port is lan port 4

Update: trying to get replacement from amazon was a big hassle. They only offered to refund however the router had gone up in price by £51 however after much complaining to amazon they agreed to raise a credit for the difference.
