[update issues] unable to update from 386.5_2 to 386.7_2 on RT-AX56U

Hello all and especially RT-AX56U owners!

I am currently stuck on AsusWRT Merlin v 386.5_2. When trying to update the latest version 386.7_2 (or even the previous version) the router reboots to apply the update but boots back up with the same firmware.
Has anyone had any issues similar to this? Is a factory reset / FW downgrade needed to circumvent this issue? Will backed-up settings work after performing such a procedure?
