Merlin,
Is this delay standard for the n66? I am starting to get nervous that they are slowly dropping support for the old workhorse.

Asus never had a set or predictable schedule for their firmware releases, so it's impossible to predict. Sometimes they release them one at a time, sometimes 2-3 the same day. Only Asus would know.

Does RT-AC66U compile ok yet?
I had an error so i deleted it and im repulling a fresh copy
just incase there was a problem with my local copy

if any one compiles one that works for the RT-ac66u i would like a link if its not to much to ask for

A few things i have noticed with the RT-AC66U
posting just incase Merlin doesnt know about any of them

After login sometimes you will get logged straight back out on firefox atleast

Firmware update's dont seem to work every time on Firefox
IE worked fine first time

Traffic Manager QOS page is messed up on firefox
Fine on IE

Clicking Clear System log on Firefox takes me back to the login screen
Fine on IE

Tools, Cpu Frequency seems locked at 600 Mhz

cat /proc/cpuinfo indicates the correct speed (662 Mhz)
BogoMIPS : 330.95

Check your installed add-ons in Firefox. I've spent a good amount of time recently with Firefox at work, and never had any issue navigating the webui.

Most seem to be a setting on firefox the new builds dont like
I have cache to ram only and local storage disabled
I disabled all extensions still the same

I used firefox on my vm

I didnt get kicked back to login after the first login

Clear system log worked fine

Traffic Manager Qos page was still messed up

Cpu speed still wrong ofc..

the new builds must not like something i have changed in about:config

ok it is actually a problem with the new builds after all
i have been trying to trace it down all night..

Firefox, Chrome & IE

IE i was using http://ip earlier..

http://hostname.mydomain.com = fine
http://192.168.0.1 = fine
http://hostname = where all the problems are coming from

Builds july and older are fine with http://hostname

so its back to

After login sometimes you will get logged straight back out from http://hostname

Firmware update's dont seem to work from http://hostname

Clicking Clear System log takes me back to the login screen from http://hostname

Traffic Manager, Traffic Monitor, Real Time doesnt work from http://hostname

Traffic Manager QOS page is messed up on firefox
Fine on IE
Fine on Chrome

Tools, Cpu Frequency seems locked at 600 Mhz

cat /proc/cpuinfo indicates the correct speed (662 Mhz)

configuration page.
- CHANGED: Updated minidlna to 1.1.5.
- FIXED: Router crash when an invalid or corrupted DH parameter
is used on an OpenVPN server configuration.
- FIXED: 2.4 GHz temperature would be missing on the Sysinfo
page when disabling the 5 GHz radio on the RT-AC3200.
- FIXED: Max tracked connection limit wasn't user-editable

- FIXED: Networked printers coming out of sleep every time
networkmap queried their LPR service
- FIXED: Resource leak in networkmap when scanning for
printer servers
- REMOVED: Regulation mode setting on Wireless -> Professional.
This can't be adjusted anymore, as it was moved to
a closed source component.

I have tested every device on my lan
no my hostfile isnt edited..

You are running an RT-AC68U it may not present its self on that model
I have an RT-AC56U running an identical setup at a remote site
will make a build for that later to see if that also presents the same problems

Suspect you arnt using a domain name
RT-AC66U's Domain Name = domain.com
Advertise router's IP in addition to user-specified DNS = YES
Forward local domain queries to upstream DNS = YES

I have even disabled ipv6 on a pc to rule out ipv6 problems

Its not a problem with my dns before that gets mentioned

This may be already in, but I couldn't find a reference in git or in the changelog. Anyway, OpenSSL is still in version 1.0.2c (which was updated for firmware .55). An updated version with security and bug fixes is available (1.0.2d) and it has been already added to the official Asuswrt firmware.

Just thought it was worth mentioning it.
Thanks.

That was done months ago.

I doubt it the cpu is actually running at 662 Mhz
but the web interface is reporting the wrong speed is all

The web interface merely reports what's in clkfreq. If it says 600, then it means you have clkfreq set to 600.

Your whole setup is the issue here, not the firmware.

Those two settings should NOT be enabled unless you have a very specific scenario that needs it In the case of the second option, it's typically when your upstream isn't your ISP but a Windows Server which is authoritative for your local domain. I can't think of any good scenario to use the first setting at all, but I vaguely remember someone asking for it for some arcane setup a long time ago.

And you should never set a local LAN domain to a public one. It WILL wreck havok on your network. Always use a local domain for your internal LAN, like shonk.lan. Otherwise, it means you expect the authoritative DNS on the Internet to be able to resolve every single LAN device on your LAN, and those would have to be non-routable IPs from your LAN.
