Heavy long term streaming while using the 380.59 Alpha2 firmware on the Asus RT-AC88U in Media Bridge Mode results in a critical failure.

See if you can reproduce the issue with the Asus original beta release, and if so file a report with them. I don't touch the Media Bridge code as I have no documentation on how it's implemented.

I can confirm that Alpha 2 has fixed the Traffic Analyzer on my 88U. It is very clear in the pic below when I loaded Alpha 2.

I would like to ask a question, AC87U how to use the command to view the 5G driver version!

just updated from .58 to alpah v 2 on my 88u. The router itself seems to be working well, but the GUI has become really sluggish. I did a power cycle, but no joy. Same slow/freezing in the GUI.

Wait. It may have been a cache problem on the PC I was using to access the router. I rebooted the PC, and now the GUI on the router seems to be fine.

I followed your advice and gave Asus firmware RT-AC88U_3.0.0.4_380_2345-ga24f32d a go. I did apply a factory reset.

The only reason I tried 380.59 was to fix the IPv6 issues in 380.58 while in Media Bridge mode. While 380.59 does fix the broken IPv6 issues, the new mu-mimo driver is apparently still rough around the edges under specific conditions (and maybe even specifically the Media Bridge mode).

The above Asus firmware seems to have fixed all woes. IPv6 is working once again and I'm still streaming in the background even now. I've got a few hours already into the test, going to let it keep going for a few more hours before I claim victory.

Yesterday I upgraded my AC88 to this firmware as a test because I was experiencing regular crashes of the router as a wifi client connected on 380.58 Nothing was shown in the log, simply busybox starting.
With 380.59 alpha2, I have not seen a crash yet, but in the log is...

Apr 10 12:11:49 dnsmasq-dhcp[1481]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.103 70:3e:xx:xx:xx:xx sunqixudeiPhone

--(xx added to hide MAC)

which seems to occur whenever a new wifi client connects. Not sure what these messages mean, neither if they have anything to do with wifi. I never saw the error messages in 380.58.

Will keep watching

For those who use ac5300 I am using it at the moment with .59 Alfa 2, manualy configured in the morning, I reseted to factory defaults, and after 5 hours no problems noticed.

I have a problem with Link Aggregation, but not related to merlins firmware, could be an Asus issue, or even the switch I use. Relating to Merlins firmware the router is working wonderfully.

Looks like there mounting issues with harddrives.

As mentioned installed 380.59 Alpha 2 to my 87u at friday, so far no issue until now and the Android 5GHz battery drain issue is gone! Thank you Merlin for your hardwork :)

Asus RT-AC88U
Heavy long term streaming while using the 380.59 Alpha2 firmware on the Asus RT-AC88U in Media Bridge Mode results in a critical failure.

It doesn't have to be streaming or particularly heavy traffic, but I think it needs to be prolonged.
NAS to NAS backup causes it for me, even after restricting throughput to 30MBps.

Can't quite remember now but I think I went to 2345 because of this.
I'm pretty sure I went back to 1354 after seeing it again and ended up going back to 2345, and later 2697, because I saw the same problem (in all these revisions).

It occurs in both Media Bridge and Repeater modes.

I could not get my USB hard drive to mount on AC3200 either and did not pursue it any further.

Just flashed alpha 2 on the AC88U.
IPTV movistar now works.
Also noticed an increase in speed to the laptop.
Only have it on "n"...used to get 55MBs now get 58MBs
The mobile gets 215MBs from 210MBs.

Thank you Merlin.

Its a alpha so its no surprise that its not fully baked yet and asus need to update the binary's before we get full function.
Still didn't really see other major issues when i tested it so not bad so far.

Yeah so far this alpha build runs very well.. this is on my AC3100. I know there's probably a couple smaller bugs, and this usb mount issue. I'm sure merlin will get another build out in the near future to correct these couple things. I already posted about the one bug I noticed, and that's the UPnP ports that are being used, aren't showing up in the system log/portforwarding section, where it list upnp port's that are actively being used.

I take it we're not getting any newer alpha/beta releases for the AC68U until Asus provide updated binary blobs?

Correct. I already asked them, haven't heard back from them yet.
