Is there a way to apply these settings directly via ssh? I was hoping that WAN option would stop the 10's of thousands of calls to dns.msftncsi.com
You will have to do a binding mount of the file, and manually modify it to remove the code section related to cstats.

Can you break that down a little more? I know previously you could just "" the dns probe address, but that doesn't work anymore. I'm even in AP mode and it still sends them.

Beta 2 is now available. Fixes the Tweaks page, and also backports parts of the updated Wireless Log backend code from 3006 (for code uniformity).

Code:
26081c8462 Updated documentation
a645241fb6 webui: wireless log: fixes client nickname not being used when MAC not found in lease list
39028635ca httpd: fix wireless log sometimes showing the wrong hostname
6a13635de4 httpd: identify 2.4 GHz unit through define instead of per individual model
76787524cf httpd: fix pushing hostnames to Wireless Log page
7ef6bc4c70 httpd: retrieve lease hostname by IP instead of by MAC for the wireless log page; other improvements to that code
934f6a9792 Bumped revision to beta 2
2d95f57bfd Updated documentation
dcd51fdd63 webui: remove leftovers from cstats which only existed in pre-HND

Dirty upgrade. No issues to report.

Updated firmware on the node and followed reset recommendations (removed and re-added the AiMesh node). Only caution for others, remember to add the node to your guest network pro band and rebind any desired clients. Done! No issues so far.

@RMerlin , or anyone that knows the current status of Guest Network fields 1,2,3.

In the past we were told to use Guest Network 2 instead of GN1 due to some issue I can't fully recall. Has that issue been fixed so that there is no conflict currently, and GN1 can be used instead.

I haven`t checked, but I have no reason to believe Asus might have changed this, since it was intentional design, not a bug. The real "fix" came in the form of Guest Network Pro, in the 3006 code branch.

I use GN1 without problems.
GN1 is repeater to nodes.
With GN2/3 only work in router.

Flashed yesterday on my RT-AX86U shortly after it was released.
Working 100% stable for me so far.

Thank you for all the hard work in keeping Asusmerlin going and thus making Asus Routers my #1 choice!

Backup configuration
Make a factory reset
Upgrade firmware to 3004.388.10.beta2
If cannot configuate it (is better), charge configuration preload.

#1, wait for final release, nothing wrong with 9_2.

Never flash over WiFi or use the phone app.

Flash by using the GUI and be sure you have the correct file (not the Pro model)

Prior to flashing either reboot or pull the power cord barrel end to restart the unit, then flash right away. This clears memory up.

If you failed to tell us about all your customization's or add-on scripts that might be impeding the flash, turn off JFFS in the menu, reboot, then flash.

Previously, there was a lack of true security isolation between the primary network and GN1. ( I think if this is unchanged, it will remain that way for the life of the product. )

Back-haul to mesh nodes was not my concern when I asked the question but its been so long now I can't remember all the particulars.
Would you mind explaining how you are using GN1, if there is more to tell. Thanks.

Good morning,
I don't have any scripts.
I always update it the same way and it has never failed until this update.

Try clearing the web browser's cache. Sometimes the flash may be successful but the web browser loads a cached page instead.

Some basic troubleshooting steps to try when having trouble flashing/updating firmware on an Asus router:
Try a different web browser.
Try a different computer.
Make sure to use a computer directly wired (Ethernet) to the router with no extenders or network switches in-between.
Temporarily disable any browser addons or extensions.
Temporarily disable any third party security software.
If you have a USB drive attached to the router, disconnect the USB drive before attempting to upgrade the firmware.
Reboot the router.
Reboot the computer used to flash the firmware to the router.

From what I could tell, the GN1 on the 3004 branch used a virtual bridge similar to how the 3006 branch does it for guest network pro. Iptable rules tightly controls how the main network on br0 interacts with the guest bridges. Seems secure to me.

Upgraded from Beta 1 to Beta 2 over Wi-Fi (WAN), all good, worked great and not having any issues.
