Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.10 is now available

Also, for some reason, my laptop will not resolve www.asus.com and the website doesn't load. Same thing on another laptop. If I hotspot my phone off my 5G connection, I can then resolve www.asus.com and load the website. I can ping www.asus.com through the router gui. DNS on the laptop is set to my router IP. I don't want to tie up this thread fixing that, but if that could potentially be related at all, I could start a new thread.
Your router is infected with malware. Search for other recent threads with these symptoms. Do a factory reset immediately.

Factory reset will clear the malware? Can I restore settings after that?
Restore by manually configuring. Otherwise, you take risk of restoring settings altered by malware from backup.

This is going to be a fun day. I factory reset. I was able to then ping www.asus.com. I think tried to update the firmware and that did not update. I then restored my settings and no longer could ping www.asus.com. Looks like, at this point, I'm going to need to factory reset, then try the firmware restoration tool and then manually update all of my settings.

Ok thanks for everyone's help, here's where I'm at.
Factory reset, used the rescue tool to update to 10.0 sucessfully, factory reset again, used GUI to update to the 10.1 test build successfully. Can ping www.asus.com.
Screenshot all my settings, but not sure of all the server passwords so I've got a bit of a road to recovery.
Should be good from here though.

Out of curiosity, did you have either AiCloud or the WAN UI access enabled?

I had AiCloud enabled at some point and I know I had an issue back months ago where there was that vulnerability that was since patched, but I guess something from that was probably still in there.

Sounds like you might have gotten hit by the malware...

Please give these test builds a try. They include the fix provided by Asus for the httpd server crashing when logging in using the APP API.

This is the only change at this time.

Client ID Icons reverted to generic stock after update. I have to manually reset these sometimes, not sure why this happens?

Not sure why the AiCloud component was kept. If you remember, RMerlin had a poll on removing this component due to the malware issue. Perhaps ASUS prevailed.

No need for conspiracy theories. There wasn't a poll (and polls don't dictate what a developer does anyway), just a discussion thread.

Additionally, at the moment there's no hard evidence this latest malware is linked to AiCloud.

OK if you're being pedantic, fine. My point still stands.

I was not, you felt the need to criticize in your response and as such you need to own up to the one being "Pendantic", not me.

It wasn't intended as criticism but clarification. I think in the realm of this forum a "poll" normally refers to a thread that has been created with the ability to vote for various options, like here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/addons-e-mail-configuration-and-usage-poll.87986/

Obviously I was mistaken so I apologise for that.

Flashing to RT-AX86U_3004_388.10_1-g74977d9bf4_pureubi.w didn't not work and I remain on 3004.388.9_2 . Any other ideas?
Good friend,
It happens to me too, I've been using this firmware for years and this error of not updating has never happened to me before.

Regards
