Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Is the check fw update function for merlin not working at the moment or is it just me?

Screenshot 2025-05-06 at 10-57-40 ASUS Wireless Router RT-BE92U - Firmware Upgrade.png

I tested the returned function "Hide DHCP/RA queries". Should it also add the row "quiet-ra" (to match the description) in /etc/dnsmasq.conf or is it enough with "quiet-dhcp" and "quiet-dhcp6"? Not using IPv6/RA, so can't try myself.

As I understand it, the Check Update button checks for the release version of the Asus-Merlin firmware not the beta release version of the Asus-Merlin firmware. At the moment there is no release 3006.102.x Asus Merlin firmware for the BE-92U router.
Edit to add: The firmware update check button is working on a RT-AX86U Pro running Beta3. When clicked it indicates it's checking for updated firmware then returns with "The latest version : The router's current firmware is the latest version." Might be something specific to the BE series, hopefully someone else with a BE series router can test the firmware Check button to see if it functions for them..

Perhaps not relevant (I haven't peered through the code paths for this) but for a data point, on the stock firmware on my AX86U Pro, when a new version was listed on the website and a (manual) check was executed in the UI, it failed to detect it / pick it up and returned the same (successful) status.

For me, on stock Asus firmware, it was hit or miss if the stock firmware would indicate a firmware update either when manually checked or automatically. Sometimes it would indicate new firmware, sometimes not when I manually checked when the Asus Support site indicated new firmware. Once it did show the new firmware alert icon in the top right of the GUI but that was right after I bought the router. Shrugs. In this case @TnF screen shot indicates their RT-BE92U router running Asus-Merlin Beta firmware GUI cannot access the "Asus server" to check for firmware updates.

Yes, because on my old RT-AC68U it could check for merlin FW release i remember (although at some point it was broken if my memory serves me well)

I think the function is blocked so you don't accidentally flash Asus OEM fw when on marlin; when i was in stock fw update check function would work as intended.

RT-BE98 Pro v2.0 running 3006.102.4_beta3. Minimal customization. 2 problems:

First problem: Pixel 8 Pro causes wifi radios to stop regularly when allowed to connect at 6GHz or 5GHz. Turning off its randomized MAC setting doesn't affect the problem. I have to restrict it to 2.4GHz. Incidentally, it has very low speeds on the higher frequency networks (comparable to 2.4GHz).

Second problem: Wifi 7 devices seem to like to sometimes show up on the client list as wired rather than wireless.

Screen shots of Pixel 8 Pro radio incident attached. MAC is 94:45:60:86:6E: E6.

Thank you for your work.

I usually use this method when the webui is acting up, and clearing the browser cache doesn't resolve the problem. I am sure many users have seen some odd behaviors with the firmware check. I have even received fantom new firmware alerts. When in doubt, use this method.

No RT-BE92U on the list (btw i am on beta 3 now)

I'm encountering a specific issue with my GT-AX6000, currently running Merlin 3006.102.4-beta3. I recently switched from the official Asus 3.0.0.6.102_34825 firmware.

I'm using the Wireless Scheduler function under 'Wifi professional' to automatically turn off my Wi-Fi every night and turn it back on in the morning.

The problem is that after the scheduler turns the Wi-Fi back on, all guest networks stop working. Only my main Wi-Fi network comes online correctly.

The temporary workaround I've found is to go to the Guest Network settings, select any one of the guest networks, and briefly disable and then re-enable it. As soon as I do this, all guest networks immediately come back online and work correctly.

Notably, I also observed this exact behavior on the first couple of official Asus 3006 firmware releases before switching to Merlin.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or does anyone have an idea what might be causing this and how to permanently fix it?

Please let me know if any further information is needed, such as specific settings or log files.

Thanks in advance!

@lovemerli-n
I have the same problem.
A GPL thing i am afraid.
