I am about to purchase an Asus router and install the Merlin FW in order to establish VPN client to bypass the Netflix/Verizon spat. That said, I am testing out VPN operations via the iMac and am running into an issue I hope can easily be answered.
I am using IPVanish and have it installed on the iMac. I am sharing my internet connection wirelessly.
When I try to use either the TPC or UDP form of OpenVPN, I can unable to access the internet with any iOS connected device. I have tried on an iPhone 5, Apple TV2 and Apple TV3. They all see the iMac and are able to connect to the iMac, but are not able to access the internet beyond. When I change to L2TP or PPTP, no issues.
Understanding that Merlin is geared more towards OpenVPN and that is the more secure and speedy option, I am curious if I dealing with an iMac issue or a known issue of iOS devices not being able to connect to an OpenVPN client.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
