The alpha is for 86u and 88u only right at the moment.

Merlin mentioned in another thread that he has GPLs for RT-AC68U and RT-AC86U https://www.snbforums.com/threads/r...-4-is-now-available.45406/page-16#post-391363
So it would make sense for the .5 alpha 1 to correspond to the GPL, besides, the size of the 88U file is smaller than the released .4 but of course I could be mistaken.

I haven't merged the new GPL yet, so the test builds you see there aren't related to that, but to specific tests I did here. Some tests were made on the AC88U so I could test it on my live router, other tests were made on the AC86U because that's the router I had sitting on the table next to me while working on something else, and it's faster to flash/reboot than the AC66U_B1 that was next to it.

Nothing wrong there. RT-AC86U uses a UBI filesystem with firmware images with the .w extension, while other models are on the old TRX format.
