Greetings everyone! It's been a long while since I've been around. I guess that means all has been well in terms of my networking setup/needs. 😁
I needed more ethernet connectivity in my media system stand so picked up a 16 port subject title gigabit switch, replacing a USB-powered D-Link 8...
I've got an AC86U that I've been struggling with for several months, via scheduled nightly reboots, clean Merlin installs, and manual reboots (like today) when there's been zero end-user activity. I'm thinking of upgrading my cable to gigabit (with 100Mb upload) and know you can tweak aspects on...
With the vodafone router I get 900+ Mbps downstream.
...But if I use my AC68U in its place and doing a speed test from the router itself I get only 1/3rd of that (slightly more than that upstream consistently for some reason). QoS is disabled - I even checked it was disabled in NVRAM.
I'm...
Hello!
I would like to ask for help in choosing a router.
■ In what environment (number/material of walls, distances, levels, neighbors) would it be used?
I want to cover an area of roughly 60 square meters with it. The maximum number of walls between my devices and the router are 2 concrete...
I have an RT-AX86U on stock firmware with a symmetrical gigabit fiber connection and a 14'' MacBook Pro M1 Max.
The MacBook sits about 12' away from the router, unobstructed. macOS reports it is connected via 802.11ax at 1,200 Mbps:
Running various online speed tests, I see ~600Mbps...
Currently, I have a number of AC68U's running my network. All run the latest version of Merlin.
Router 1 handles the incoming fiber line and does the heavy lifting for the firewall, DHCP, and AiMesh master node. The other 3 act as nodes and do their thing.
I would like to replace Router 1...
So far I thought Asus routers could not handle full gigabit speeds with Adaptive QoS turned on. This was my experience with my, now gone, RT-AX88U. Adaptive QoS limited the maximum download and upload speeds to around 500Mbit/s instead of the about 940Mbit/s when turned off.
My new RT-AX86U...
Hello. Nice to meet you!
I ask you – Did I make the right choice? Please read and please respond with a simple yes or no answer and if you could explain why you feel I did or did not and what you would have done.
Last week, I purchased a new router from Amazon.com. It is the TP-Link A6 V3...
I recently bought a ax86U and have installed the release version of merlin 386.1.2.
I have also followed M&M 2020 configuration.
My question is, my Speedtest results average around 500-600 mbps is that normal results or is their room for improvement?
For AX86U users: what results are y'all...
I'm planning on getting gigabit internet from AT&T next month because I need to update to a new internet package deal.
The majority of my devices are connected to wifi so I would wish they could benefit from gigabit speeds on wifi.
As for range, I live in an apartment ~1500 Sqft
I do have some...
Does this setup actually help? I'm running one gig fiber line into modem. Then two Lan lines into an rt-ac88u one Wan and the other Lan as the dedicated dual wan port.
I did some custom routing and other testing, things seem quicker, but I'm not sure if there's any actual real world load...
I recently upgraded to gigabite fibre internet (which uses PPPoE) and am in the market for a router that offers full hardware acceleration with PPPoE.
I'm presently on an Asus RT-AC87U with merlin firmware and like it, but the router doesn't support full hardware acceleration with PPPoE...
I have an RT-AC88U ASUS router and recently updated my fiber internet to gigabit. This is CenturyLink gigabit. (Actually they only promise 940.)
I have been testing my new service to see if I am actually getting gigabit and indeed I am.
BUT, I can only verify this with my ThinkPad X1 Yoga...
So I have Spectrum internet and the internet drops quite a lot. The way it is wired is there is one cable coming down from the power line. from there is a 3-way splitter. One port goes to my internet only modem, another to cable tv, and the third to another internet-only modem for the guest...
Hi,
I can't get LAN/WAN speeds above ~100 Mbps.
My WAN connection is 1 Gbps when I connect directly to the ISP modem (testing with Speedtest Ookla). When I connect using a LAN port I get about 100 Mbps (same computer, same cable cat 6, etc)
Do I need to do any configuration in the router?
What...
Hey there guys, so I recently upgraded to gigabit internet. The Ac5300 router I have had for a while now and followed some online guides to get it set up to get some decent speeds on wifi. I am getting about 450-530 Mbps on wifi on my phone and only 110 Mbps wireless on my laptop. So I tried...
Hello,
We finally have fiber available & it was installed today - (symmetrical) Gigabit. We live in an 850sq single story apartment in a building w/ 40 total units so definitely WiFi from others nearby. We currently have a nearly 4 year old Netgear R8500 (X8) router/wifi unit. It’s been having...
Hello SNB - tomorrow, I’m replacing my RT-AC3200 with a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 6P and UAP-AC-PRO access point, and need advice on setup/config. Here’s what I’ve been working with:
-Single story house, 3,000 sq ft, lathe and plaster construction
-ISP: AT&T Fiber symmetrical gigabit
-ONT feeds an...
Hi folks,
Wondering if you're able to help. Recently upgraded from the ISP-provided router for our gigabit fibre to the Asus RT-AC86U.
With the default settings, I'm only getting about 300/450 mbps download/upload speeds on both wireless and wired (Cat 5e) connections for a range of devices...
Hi,
I've been working on my home network after my old R7000 died and could not be resurrected. In another thread here I've been advised to step up my game and get a R7800 which is more likely to utilize my gigabit connection through my NETGEAR CM1000 modem. I have ordered a R7800 so I can test...
