is this a prob with ATT or with the modem setup or with the ASUS?
I just set up an RT N66U to an existing ATT Uverse Modem .
The wireless speeds are mostly the same or lower than I was getting with 802.11g (especially upload) and the results are very inconsistent.
(in other facilities, when connected to 802.11n I get much faster "speed test" results on all my devices (using Ookla speed test))
I disabled the wireless on the modem . a "Pace Americas 3801HGV" and in the setup for that I verified that max rate is 32325 down and 5040 up. I checked inssider and there are no competing networks.
there are no other devices on in this home.
there didn't seem to be a difference when I went from 20 to 40Mgz bandwidth so I went back to 20. (yes insider changed max rate from 216 to 450, but that didn't matter on the test results):

8:18pm Down/8676 Up/1311 Png/30
8:55pm Down/16193 up/1404 Png/31
8:58pm Down/1691 up/1447 Png/35
8:59pm Down/3743 up/1046 Png/88

last week with 802.11g only through the ATT router, I was getting speeds up to 16k down and mostly in 5 to 8k up range.
(my laptop has an intel N2230 wifi adapter, and I also tested on an iPhone5s, and an IPAD air at 5Mhz)
thanks in advance for any advice

UVRealtime?

Have you tried UV Realtime? "A standalone program for PC computers that can retrieve information from a typical residential installation of the AT&T U-Verse® IPTV/VOIP/Internet system. Some of the information displayed consists of VDSL line analysis, network interface data rates, DVR information, STB channel and stream information, and Internet usage information."
