Hi all. I Have an Asus rt-ac 5300. This router was very good when it was new, but i am now strugling with different problems. It seems that wifi devices looses contact with internett. I think this is happening most often, when there is a lot of devices connected, and meaby most often to Aple devices. Im not sure if the last statement is true, or it is its owners just complaining a lot more.

On avarege there is about 24 devices connected to the network, evenly splitt between the wifi and hard wire.

I use DDNS, parental controll (currently turned off due to diagnostics), VPN server and port forwarding to list some of the feateres that i use.

a few weeks ago I updated to latest firmware only to discover that it slowed the internett speed a lot down. After a trip to rescue mode, i was back to the previous firmware and speed was restored, but stability is still a problem.

Do you boys and girls have any tips? I have tried all the usual stuff about resetting to factory setting and so on.

My only suggestion is to try the latest Asuswrt-Merlin firmware for your router and ask for guidance from that community going forward. Solving wireless troubles is a nightmare because of so many variables. But if the wireless issues began minutes after updating your firmware then it’s likely that caused it. Apple recently released iOS updates so if you installed them that is another possible cause.

I too have an AC5300 - and frankly nearly returned it because of stability issues ... but fortunately discovered the Wonderful World of Merlin-Ware. Hop over to this forum ... https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/ and get yourself RMerlin firmware - stick with version 384.8-2 for now [not the latest 384.9] and you will enjoy the stability I have PLUS ... be able to add really worth while extra's [starting with AMTM].
