RMerlin

Asuswrt-Merlin dev
Howdy folks,

Asuswrt-Merlin 376.47 is now available for all supported models.

The highlights over 376.46:

  • Merge with Asus's 376_2678 GPL code, which brings various fixes and improvements to the RT-AC87U (DPI and wifi), more work surrounding USB 3G/4G modems, and some more fixes and tweaks.
  • SNMP support has been enabled on all models (except the RT-N16, since Asus's MIBs require OpenVPN to be compiled in). This is a feature that's still in development by Asus, so consider this as being experimental. You can enable and configure it under Administration -> SNMP.
  • FTP and Samba AiCloud syncing. Again, another feature that Asus is still working on, and should be considered as experimental.
  • SSH now supports SHA256 and SHA512 HMAC, in response to SHA-1 being gradually phased out on the rest of the Internet.
  • Numerous fixes to the VPN webui

Thank you!

Updated smoothly on my 68U. Did a factory reset, first time since .39 upgrade. Running fine. Thank you for the hard work, RMerlin. Much appreciated.

Also updated with no issues. I must be feeling lucky, I am going to leave the router as-is as long as I have no issues with it. No factory reset, yet. :)

I predict another RMerlin classic from day one. ;)

376.47

Updated and using now.
Thanks for all the hard work RMerlin!

gotwillk, If you're just using basic LAN and WiFi, give it a shot without a reset.

If you're using any advanced options (USB disks, printers, VPN, etc.) then I would recommend to disconnect all USB devices, save any special settings you've created (for example, in the JFFS partition), reboot the router and after waiting a good 5 minutes or so, upgrade the firmware.

After it has upgraded, do a factory reset and after doing a preliminary setup, manually of course, I would power cycle the router (physically pull the power plug) instead of just rebooting it.

Now, you should be at a known and stable point to try any adjustments to the newly available settings.

decided to try this new version on my RT-AC68R, My hard drive finally mounts again!, I still get the following error though:

Fail to get log of fsck!

the usb 3.0 icon have a red circle around it but atleast it now mounts and I can use it. I tried a factory reset just in case but it still happens. The drive is a Samsung 4tb D3 Station. Also tried reducing the usb 3.0 interference but no change.

thank you! yes i am using only basic LAN and wifi. i'll just do a flash without factory reset and see how it turns out. if anything, i guess i'll just reconfigure the settings.

Does the USB 2.0 port do the same? What format does the drive have?

Just went from the beta to the release version. This time no issues with the apps that are on my usb drive starting via the mount script, both nginx and squid started just fine. So far looking good. Thanks Merlin.

yes same problem, formatted NTFS, here is a system log after the upgrade, maybe it will help find the problem

I also noticed that now there is a folder in my hard drive named ntfsck.00000000 with a couple files in it, is it possible the firmware is corrupting my files? files in the folder are file.00000000 and file.00000001

Hi Merlin, still issues with the VPN GUI. With no VPN servers running I still get "OpenVPN Server 1 - Running"

so far so good

installed form the Beta... have not done a factory reset after the install...everything is working fine.

Hi Merlin, still issues with the VPN GUI. With no VPN servers running I still get "OpenVPN Server 1 - Running"

Make sure you select the OpenVPN instance when checking its state. If the status page shows it as running, then there must be a process running on the router for that specific instance.

sqlite version not matching with mindlna

AC66U

hi, thx for your great job !

i updated from the version 45 without a factory reset with no main problems ( i just use samba, dhcp filter and dnla sever) but
when i tried to use the dlna server with a fresh database i got the message : SQLite library is not threadsafe! Inotify will be disabled.

so i checked the src and :

in minidlna.c :
1171 if (!sqlite3_threadsafe() || sqlite3_libversion_number() < 3005001)
1172 DPRINTF(E_ERROR, L_GENERAL, "SQLite library is not threadsafe! "
1173 "Inotify will be disabled.\n");

as i am a noob linux, should u tell me what is the cmd in order to check my sql version?

so the dlna server is completly useless because the database wont update with change's files.

may i have to push a factory reset in order to solve this or it's an issue from the code?

I also noticed in the .45 the the wifi power slider seems to not working (1 % or 100% gives me full power), in the .47 i get the same issue.

best regards,

Edit: i tried a factory reset: the sql issue was still here, then i gone back to .45 (no sql issue) because i need the dlna server.

Updated today and so far everything is working great. I amusing Entware with Tranmission on a USB drive and so far it's all working great as well.

Make sure you select the OpenVPN instance when checking its state. If the status page shows it as running, then there must be a process running on the router for that specific instance.

Fixed it, under VPN Details, which I had set for PPTP as I don't use OpenVPN, I cycled it through PPTP/OpenVPN and the OpenVPN running status cleared.

Hi Merlin, it seems it was fixed a very old bug with the NFS service start: now it works without any intervention!

Many thanks man! :D

I'm on 376.45 which is running fine so far, so is this release recommended over 376.45? E.g. more secure or stable?
