One last thought though.....were you using Safari as your browser? I can speculate that may cause a problem if you started the upgrade, then switched so the upgrade tab no longer had focus (quirk in Safari).
Thank you for the time spent - let's forget about it since it can't be reproduced.
I was using the brave browser (chromium fork)

Thanks John. Updated the old N66U. You’re keeping it relevant all these years later!!

It wouldn't update until I reset it first, then no problems with flash and restore. Thanks for the continued support of the AC56!

Upgraded my N66U from 44EA to 45EA a week ago. No problems at all and it's still running fine. I have it in router mode with a USB drive for the JFFS partition and WiFi disabled. Really happy to be still getting updates for this aged but perfectly serviceable device. Thank you very much John.

EDIT: One other thing....updating the MIPS based routers this way can be REALLY slow. Even after it appears to hang at 58% (or whatever %), let it sit. It can take 30min to almost an hour for an update this way to complete.

I took a few days off from troubleshooting this issue. Today after trying a few other options (i.e., installing the *.trx file from the hard drive rather than from a USB 1.1 drive on an old Windows XP laptop like I tried a few days ago) The install/rescue went well. I am now running your latest Fork, and it seems to be running quite well.

Thanks for all your continuing hard work and efforts.

Hi All:

Does john9527's custom Asuswrt-Merlin fork include the 802.11ac driver for RT-N66U (similar to Shibby's Tomato FW K26RT-AC vs K26RT-N)? I'd much rather run Asuswrt. And 802.11ac on a RT-N66U would be Lazarus status in my book.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Respectfully,

Gary
It is not possible for the RT-N66U to have "ac wifi" because it doesn't have the hardware to do so. So it doesn't matter what firmware you use, it's not physically possible.

Hi Guys,

I've been searching like crazy on SNB for this and I know this has been discussed but can't find anything. What exactly is the difference in John's Fork between Level 1 CTF and Level 2 CTF? Trying to improve Fiber Speeds. Thanks very much.

Anyone have 'first party isolate' enabled on firefox and can actually get output from the traffic manager tab? Same issue on two PCs with firefox unless I disable it. Not a big deal though, just a very mild nuisance on what has otherwise been very stable hardware and software (John's Fork included) for many many years.

I can recreate it and see what it's complaining about.....the page calls a javascript function to manage the graph which then calls an svg function to process the data. When the svg tries to return the data to the javascript it dies with a cross domain error when first party isolate is on. Unfortunately, I'm html 'challenged' in this area....is there an html doctor in the house? :)

BTW....it looks like the same code in Merlin, so I'd expect the Merlin builds to have the same problem.

It looks like your USB drive may be having a problem....have you checked the drive for errors?

I have 2 USB flash, 1 is named Data the other one is Entware!
The Syslog should be in Data!

path should be Data/Syslog/syslog.log instead of Entware...
But after writing last firmware not working anymore!
Strange!

Surprise

After flashing new firmware
sda1 is sdb1
sdb1 is sda1

What can I say?
Never expected this to happen!

The order in which the drives are mounted isn't guaranteed....what's the output of

df

your script is hard coded to expect the syslog to be on sda1

Solved that part, changed the script for changed order :)
