New Around Here
Today I received an Asus GT-AX6000 and a TP-Link Archer TX3000E, and I have updated the router with the latest firmware and the network card with the latest driver.

I have a 1000/1000 Mbps connection, and when I run Speedtest to the ISPs servers in Stockholm (Sweden), I get just under 500 Mbps download and around 850-900 Mbps upload.

I tested connecting my computer directly to the fiber converter and got around 940/940 Mbps, so there doesn't seem to be any issue with the connection.

In the device manager, I have disabled "MIMO power save mode" and enabled "Throughput Booster" for the network card which improved the results slightly.

I have experimented with different channels in the router settings, but it doesn't make a significant difference.

I'm sitting approximately 6-7 meters away from the router with an open door and a drywall wall between the computer and the router.

I would appreciate any tips or suggestions you might have on how I can improve the download speed.

Welcome to the forums @Improwise.

Which router are you talking about? What PC and OS do you have? And what wireless card?

What other settings have you changed past defaults on both the router and the PC?

Is the speed better when you're ~10 feet/3 Metres from the router?

What speedtest are you running?

Details matter here.

Thank you!

The router I'm using is an Asus GT-AX6000, and the wireless card is a TP-Link Archer TX3000E. I have Windows 10 installed on my computer, which has the following specifications:
  • Motherboard: ASUS Strix Z390-F GAMING
  • CPU: Intel i9-9900K
  • GPU: Asus Strix RTX 2080 OC
  • SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB
  • RAM: HyperX Fury 4x8 GB CL16 2666 Mhz
I have tried to place the router closer and I've noticed minimal differences (10-30 Mbps) that occasionally vary when testing, possibly due to coincidental factors.

This is the speedtest I am using, https://www.speedtest.net.

Regarding the router settings, I've experimented with changing the channel bandwidth, trying out 20, 40, 80, 160 MHz, as well as using the "auto" option. Additionally, I've tested different control channels, going up to channel 64 (beyond which the wireless devices fail to find the SSID).

Did you enable the Wireguard server or any other VPN service?
