Hi all
I don't know if this is an accurate way to test wifi speed but this is what I just tried ....

how-to-test-wifi-speed/

files needed from a link above

on my mac I downloaded the mac version for both the connected desktop and macbook pro

I extracted the folder, remamed the folder to ipref, and moved it to /Users/my user name/iperf...... on both my desktop and laptop

then on the desktop (connected wired to my lan) in terminal ran
./iperf -s -u -i1

on the laptop I ran in terminal (connected wifi) i ran
./iperf -c (ip of desktop) -u -i1 -l 1300 -b 99999m -t 600

like ./iperf -c 172.168.0.10 -u -i1 -l 1300 -b 99999m -t 600

in the same room with the router and laptop
I ended up with ~80's-90's on 2.4
and ~224 with 5G

it shows on the desktop not the laptop under bandwidth.

I don't know if this is any accurate way or not maybe someone can chime in

I tried wired directly and it reads 95.2 steady?? (I don't think this test will work for wired or settings need to be changed)

also the numbers do go down as I move my laptop through the house on wifi

Here is a simpler test.

Transfer a single large file from a hardwired PC to a WiFi connected PC/Mac/laptop.
