Diversion Diversion 5.1.2 - the Router Ad-Blocker, April 21, 2024

I have a problem with whitelisting sites. The intel.com site is on one of the black lists ( https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts ) I have loaded, why I don't know. I thought, no problem just include it on the whitelist:
Entering intel.com returned 'found exact match in blocking list Custom for intel.com'. Next add and process list.
Nothing, still blocked. Following the log confirms that it's still blocking intel.com and all of its subdomains.

Is this a dnsmasq issue because Steven Blacklist is entered as a hosts list format?
I shut down the computer for this year and will not check until next year;)
Switch to the new Standard file by reselecting it, I‘m sure this domain will be gone.

Happy New Year, hope that 2024 might be less stressful for you. 🥳
Btw. I solved it, I just had to wait a few minutes before the dnsmasq cache was updated with the new whitelist.

On both my iPhone and my iPad I have a root certificate named “ASUS router Root CA” installed

I found this alternative procedure that I hope to try later today or next year
Unfortunately that procedure results in a slightly different root CA certificate: "ASUS ac86u Root CA" (must be old; I use a GT-AX6000 now).

I can install/uninstall that one, but it's not the same as is present on my devices :(

On the other hand, I never knew about the 2 unremovable pixelserv CA certificates on my iPad (but not on the iPhones) until after I read these posts. So, I probably would never had known about them, and clearly they’re not causing any problems. And they’re far less irritating than those decades-old, obsolete, phantom email addresses that aren’t in Contacts and which the iPad offers me sometimes when I try to address an email.

So I’ll stay away from those Certificate Trust Settings in General > About: what the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over.

In my iPad backup I did have the "ASUS router Root CA" certificate, but uninstalling it according to the procedure did not work either.

After a lot of research I discovered that it actually is included in a profile for IKEv2 (that I made myself and installed on both devices).

So this certificate was not used by Diversion/PixelServ at all... (But I did learn new stuff 🎉)

Time to shutdown my Mac and get ready for 2024!

Removes pixelserv-tls if installed by Diversion.

This pixelserv-tls related info (and typo LUL) should be removed as well?:

A Diversion update is available, no version change.

What's changed
- Removed incorrectly formatted sed pattern in blocking list updater and blacklist verifier. Thanks to @Mutzli for the intel.com observation. Run a manual blocking list update with b, 3 after the update.
- Removed - hopefully - last remnant of pixelserv-tls (pielserv) in the backup function. Thanks to @Diamond67 for reporting. This typo has been in Diversion since its very first release on August 25 2018!

What is the difference between Large list and Hagezi multi normal or multi pro?

In that it provides a choice to Diversion users with a click and done experience. It fits the target size for the list. I chose it because it is well maintained and has been around for a while.

NOT A RANT: I asked in a separate thread for suggestions. None of the answers addressed my question and met what I asked for. So I made my choice by the glow of my four displays by throwing a used napkin at the screen. It hit the screen and I pasted the line affected into functions.div. STILL NOT A RANT END.

There, I said it.
:)

While I know my response didn't give you a pointed answer, it was aimed at making your life easier. (doing away with the lower end choices)

I think many defer to you and your experiences as the author, maintainer and authority in the area of making clear sound choices in this arena and to not over burden you. I think we all know it's been months in the making of these revisions.

You also provide a means to augment choices.

Many thanks, and good wishes for the new year!

Hence the no rant qualifier. No harm meant. I needed an answer yesterday when I posted the thread and ran out of time and patience on my end. I wanted it to end and needed pointers. I became what I asked for and I'm thankful for that.

After all, my handle IS thelonelycoder and that is what I identify myself with. My co-workers over in the US call me the lone Wolf. I guess that's fitting and deserved.
I best work on my own and uninterrupted. My co-workers here in busy Switzerland have their own name for my work habit ;)

If i want to use oisd.nsfw list: Is it included in the large list included in Diversion or do I have to add that manually? If it needs to be added manually can someone explain how do I do this.
Thank you.

Add the following:
Then remove what’s been already there.

Thank you.
Can you please explain if the NSFW list is made from Big List + NSFW list or is just a separate list that only blocks NSWF content. If that's the case how can I have them both combined? I want to have the functionality of the Standard/Big list + NSFW content blocking.
Would it be a good idea to add to your predefined lists an option for Porn/Adult/Gore content?
