[384.9_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

Thank you for reaffirming what an ALPHA (Test) firmware is, I'm well aware and just trying to help with the testing.
This isn't mission critical, but if there was something wrong or unstable with this as an upcoming build, then I figured something should be stated so it could be discussed, addressed, or avoided for others if they DO need a stable environment /run a business/ have internet of things relying on their router.

After doing an Initialization, the 5Ghz shows down on the latest Alpha even during the SSID/Smart Connect setup, so there is not a configuration issue, as nothing has been configured yet up to that point.​

Rolling back to the latest 384.8_2 version of Merlin brought the 5Ghz back, so I'm strongly suggesting there's either a flashing issue or GPL issue.

After the flash and when you noticed the 5G down, did you reset to defaults so the rest of the community can accurate understand the possible issue at hand?

If you have reset, I would try to reset again and not use a single import for any setting. Reconfigure the router by hand and screen shots taken before the flash.

I noticed this entry as well in my logs. After a reboot only one of those entries shows up.

This message is there since 45149 was introduce in Asuswrt or Merlin fw. No reset or initialize will fix this. This is just a debug message , harmless but annoying.

Yes, I did an Factory Restore/Initialize as posted earlier, which (by my understanding) should completely wipe all configurations and set the router to it's absolute defaults.
And even after that, which I power cycled after doing a Factory Restore, the 5Ghz was still not working.

If you use DFS 5Ghz channels it can take upto 1-2 minutes to get any signals.

same problem here. My router is RT-AX88U,when I update to 384.9_alpha,5G wireless is disabled.
rollback to 384.8_2, 5G work again.

I have not tried the 384.9 Alpha builds yet. I will comment though that several versions ago on one of the earlier 384.x versions, my AC86U would not initialize the 2.4 GHz radio. It always remained OFF. Nothing I tried short of dropping back a version would resurrect it. Eventually when the next .x+1 version came along and I flashed the early beta firmware, the 2.4 radio worked again. So don't feel alone - your issue with the 5 GHz radio is behaving exactly like my 2.4 GHz on an earlier version.

@D_Day, if you want to run alpha and beta firmware you should be willing to read other people's comments before posting questions. Developers time is better spent on new issues instead of continuing to answer the same questions.

He wasn’t asking the developer if there was an issue. What’s the point of the thread, if you can’t ask questions? It seems you know it’s an ongoing issue, then answer his post and explain. That’s what helps the developer.

That’s awesome! My 2.4ghz and 5ghz have all been connected for 70 hours without a disconnection. This alpha is running very well. Thank you, Merlin!

I did a dirty flash on my AC3200 and have been connected for 30+ hours on all bands as well. Some of the other options I have been successfully using are; VPN with Rules for clients, DDNS, and DNSSEC. The only issue, other than those previously listed, I have found is I get a 404 not found when i try to use the Roaming Block List under Wireless but I attribute that to the dirty flash. Once the next alpha/beta comes out I am going to do a reset and I am sure that will get sorted then. GREAT JOB RMerlin and i hope you appreciated my donation Happy New Year!

Doing a quick look up, this member has experienced that log message for awhile now:

It may be some quirk in the stock firmware. If everything is running well, probably safe to ignore.
